Franklin Public Schools serve the center portion of the city, with district facilities including five elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. The Franklin School District has an award-winning staff and excellent facilities. Almost 470 teachers and administrators are present full time. At the primary schools, the student/teacher ratio is 15; at the secondary schools the ratio is 16. Sixty percent of the graduates of the Franklin School District plan on attending college.
The Oak Creek-Franklin Joint School District has five elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school. The primary school student/teacher ratio is 16. At the secondary schools, the student/ teacher ratio is 17. Fifty-nine percent of the district graduates plan on attending college. District enrollment for 2002-2003 was 4,935. The Whitnall School District has one high school, one middle school and two elementary schools. A staff of approximately 300 serve more than 2,400 students from K-12 in four buildings. Sixty percent of the staff hold a master's degree or better.
Milwaukee Area Technical College is located in Oak Creek and offers a wide variety of training and education to the surrounding Oak Creek and Franklin communities.
Private schools include St. Matthew and Grace Lutheran in Oak Creek, and St. Martin of Tours, St. Paul Lutheran, Jubilee Christian and Oakwood Discovery. Milwaukee Area Technical College, South Campus, is located in the city of Oak Creek. Other nearby institutions of higher learning are: Alverno College, Cardinal Stritch College, Columbia College of Nursing, Marquette University, Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, Milwaukee School of Engineering, Mount Mary College, University of Wisconsin and Wisconsin Lutheran College.
Oak Creek and Franklin both offer excellent choices in childcare and early education. Oak Creek has two brand new facilities - Learning Edge Childcare and Preschool and Ebenezer Child Care Centers. Franklin also has a first rate caring childcare facility located in the Franklin Industrial Park - Amy's Academy and very nearby in Cudahy is the YMCA.
