In addition to many private practices and medical laboratories, Richmond Heights is home to SSM St. Mary’s Health Center – an affiliate of the SSM Health Care Network. In 2003, the center was awarded the prestigious Malcolm Baldridge Award.

Since 1924, SSM St. Mary’s Health Center has demonstrated its commitment to providing quality healthcare for all segments of the greater St. Louis community. Still at its original location (6420 Clayton Road, just east of Big Bend Boulevard and north of Interstate 64), the Health Center continues to improve and expand vital healthcare services.

A major tertiary care center, St. Mary’s is affiliated with St. Louis University School of Medicine, and offers comprehensive, specialized services in all major medical specialties – including high-risk obstetrics, heart surgery, and orthopedics. St. Mary’s is licensed for 619 beds, employs 1,700 people, and has more than 800 physicians on staff – representing all medical specialties.

Richmond Heights is also home to Richmond Terrace (a 99-bed retirement facility in the heart of the city) and the newly built Sunrise Assisted Living facility (a 74-unit facility), which provide varying levels of care to meet the specific needs of residents.
