Recreation

Richmond Heights boasts a number of recreational opportunities that are sure to match your family’s needs and interests. Private enterprises offer recreation and fitness opportunities such as bowling, racquetball, movies and other forms of relaxation.

The entire community enjoys the amenities and programs available at The Heights: Richmond Heights Community Center and Memorial Library (8001 Dale Ave., just south of Interstate 64 and east of Hanley Road). Amenities include a leisure pool, giant water slide, lap pool, hot tub, steam room, sauna and an interactive play area.

The community center also features state-of-the-art fitness equipment, a suspended indoor track and a two-court gymnasium. All that (along with the city’s new library, multipurpose meeting rooms, and the green space that surrounds the facility) makes our community center the perfect gathering place for receptions, seminars, family reunions and other events.

The A. B. Green Athletic Complex is located just a block away (at the northeast corner of Dale Avenue and Laclede Station Road). A.B. Green is home to softball diamonds, a playground, a soccer field and lighted basketball and tennis courts. There’s also a picnic area with barbecues for family and friendly gatherings.

Highland Park – a small, landscaped retreat with playground equipment and a gazebo for picnics – is tucked away in one of Richmond Height’s neighborhoods. Through an innovative arrangement that stems from the three-city study agreement shared by Richmond Heights, Maplewood and Clayton, Richmond Heights residents have access to the parks in Maplewood as well as the opportunity to use Maplewood’s new outdoor aquatic center in the summer at Maplewood resident rates. In return, Maplewood residents use Richmond Heights’ recreation and park facilities under comparable terms. Richmond Heights has other, more limited arrangements for various facilities and programs with the neighboring cities of Brentwood and Clayton.

Historic Forest Park is just minutes away from the City of Richmond Heights. Home of the 1904 World’s Fair and operated by the City of St. Louis, Forest Park offers a multitude of outdoor activities – from golf, tennis and handball to biking, running, golf and skating. Forest Park is also home to the Muny outdoor theater, the St. Louis Zoo, the Missouri History Museum, and the St. Louis Art Museum.
