Education
School District 300 meets the education needs for most of Algonquin and Lake in the Hills with five elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools. Lake in the Hills students who live north of Miller Road attend Grade School District 47 and High School District 155 in Crystal Lake, while students on the western edge attend Huntley School District 158. Algonquin also has two outstanding private schools, and both communities have several quality pre-schools and day care centers.

Elgin Community College (District 509) and McHenry County College each offer a two-year program in liberal arts and sciences (for students wishing to transfer credits to a four-year college) and one- and two-year programs in vocational, technical and semi-professional careers.
