Conyers welcomes new business, and offers extensive cooperation to industries and businesses. The City of Conyers has its own Planning and City Services Department that works with new businesses through the zoning, permitting and construction phases of development.

The local economy has been closely tied to the railroad and to Interstate 20, which bisects the City of Conyers. Industrial districts are located along this corridor to the east, west and south. In recent years, new retail centers have been developed — including StoneCrest Mall, which is located just west of the city.

A revitalization program to the downtown area has resulted in aesthetic improvements to the Olde Town and historic districts; attracted new retail, office and governmental uses; and has stimulated the local economy.
